The advanced ceramics class at College Park High School will be exhibiting a sampling of their work at Valley Art Gallery from February 11 to March 3, with a free opening reception Saturday February 11 from 3 – 5 PM.
Instructor Lesley Jensen leads this creative program which includes 145 students this year. Lesley has been teaching at College Park for 19 years. Valley Art Gallery selected this outstanding art program as the recipient of its annual Gloria Marshall Award—a cash donation given each year by the Gallery in support of a public school arts program.
Lesley teaches every imaginable technique in forming and decorating ceramics as well as experimenting with various firing techniques. This year she introduced silk screening on clay. Ms. Jensen is also an instructor in Walnut Creek’s ceramics program, where some of her former students continue working long after graduation.
Also on display on the sliding walls are selected works by Gallery Artists. Reflecting a wide range of motifs, styles, media and prices, the work represents the best of the best from more than 100 East Bay artists.
Valley Art Gallery is a volunteer run, non-profit organization that has been representing artists of the Bay Area since 1949. Located in downtown Walnut Creek, Valley is the only gallery in the East Bay with a ‘no regrets rental’ program.
