Hot Cocoa! Yum!

So, this past weekend my 2 1/2 year old and 5 year old were begging for some hot cocoa (we had some on a recent trip and they’re a little obsessed). Obsessed for a good reason, right?

Alright, so here’s how I made it (and it was loved by the whole family):

-4 cups of milk

-1/2 cup of sugar

-1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa

-1 teaspoon vanilla extract

I put it all in a medium sized pot (hey, use what you have!), turned the heat up to medium and stirred constantly with a whisk (one that won’t scratch the pot, and wooden spoon would work too). I just kept stirring until it was steaming and just starting to simmer (a couple bubbles popping on the surface), then I took the pot off the heat. Don’t forget to turn off the stove!

We had our hot cocoa just like that, served in mugs. But, have some fun! Marshmallows would be awesome! How about whipped cream or dusted with some of that unsweetened cocoa. Or, how about some chocolate pieces in there! Yum!

Stay warm and enjoy!
