Yes, There Was Good Music in the 60’s and 70’s

There was some great music that came out of the 60’s and 70’s and a lot of it was written by Carol King and Gerry Goffin. If you are a fan of Carol King music, you should see “Beautiful” currently at the Orpheum Theater in San Francisco. I recently saw it and was totally blown away. Abby Mueller, who plays Carol King, absolutely nails the part. She even has some of Carol’s vocal characteristics that enhances the show. The story also highlights the songwriting team of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, who became friends with the King/Goffin team. You will probably know every song and want to sing along, but trust me, leave that to the professionals until the very end where they invite the audience to sing along. It’s at the Orpheum through September 18 – don’t miss it!!

Oh, and if you go – check out Sam’s Diner which is on Market Street about a half block from the theater. The food is amazing and the prices are extremely reasonable!
